Conference day 2

Boost your leadership skills with Gordon Campbell

On this last day of the ACPI conference, M. Gordon Campbell, recipient of the Excellence in Education Award in the Outstanding School Leader Award category presents a half-day workshop that will help administrators boos their leadership skills in a FI context.

Leadership and French Immersion

Strong leadership is essential for a successful immersion program, especially in the current political climate where French language services in many provinces are being cut back. What are the issues that are of most concern to you now as an immersion leader? This half day workshop will let us explore some of those pressing issues, help us reflect on our own beliefs and then discuss the issues to learn from our colleagues across the country.

Participants will set the agenda for the workshop. A basis for discussion will be A Reflective Guide for French Immersion Leaders, a recent publication by ACPI. Topics of discussion can include but not be limited to: advocacy for FI, best practices in the FI classroom, communication and networking, challenges to the program, accommodating all students, professional learning, hiring and retention of staff.
